Keynote: Let’s Stop Managing Change (And Start Designing for Adoption)
Speaker: Sara Gallagher
Most change approaches assume that if leaders plan carefully, explain clearly, and train thoroughly, adoption will follow. That assumption breaks down when change is continuous and when new systems fundamentally reshape how work gets done.

This session explores why many well-intended change efforts stall—not because people resist change, but because they’re responding rationally to the conditions around them. When new tools, processes, or ways of working collide with existing priorities, constraints, and risks, people adapt in ways that often surprise leadership—and slow down adoption.

Rather than treating change as a series of initiatives to manage, this session reframes change as something people experience every day in how work feels to do. You’ll learn the three core principles that shape whether people genuinely adopt new ways of working—or silently work around them.

In this session, leaders will:
  • Understand why adoption falters even when change is well planned and well communicated
  • Move from “managing change” to designing conditions where adaptation happens naturally
  • Apply three practical principles to unlock genuine adoption
You’ll leave with a clearer way to diagnose adoption challenges and practical insight into how to make change easier to absorb, easier to sustain, and more likely to deliver real results.
