At Legacy Insurance, culture isn’t crafted by slogans — it’s lived out in every interaction, decision and milestone. From daily encouragement threads to quarterly meetups, the team has built a business rooted in connection, collaboration and purpose. In this behind-the-scenes look, we talked to CEO Heath Barnett about how Legacy fosters community, supports remote agents and equips its team with the tools and training that turn a career into a calling.
ACN: You’ve noted community is important at Legacy. How does your team incorporate this day-to-day?
Heath Barnett: At Legacy, community isn’t just something we say; it’s how we operate. We start each week with encouragement threads, share wins in real time and support each other through personal and professional milestones. Our agents regularly post helpful tips, real-life client stories and even the occasional “what not to do” so others can learn. Everyone has a voice and a seat at the table here. There’s no competition, just collaboration, and the mindset is that when one of us grows, we all grow.
ACN: With remote work remaining popular, how do you build a strong team digitally?
HB: Building strong connections from a distance takes intention. We’ve found that blending digital and in-person experiences helps our agents feel truly supported. Each quarter, we host live meetups, agency visits or workshops where agents connect beyond the screen. Online, we use dedicated chat threads and private coaching calls to help people stay in sync. We also celebrate milestones in real time, whether it’s someone hitting their first big sale or welcoming a new baby, because culture is built in the little moments too.
ACN: How do training and tools play into your company culture?
HB: Training is the foundation of everything we do. When someone joins Legacy, they start with onboarding that’s personalized to their experience level, then move through a structured roadmap that includes sales coaching, product knowledge and marketing support. We’ve built tools that help simplify the process, like lead trackers, quote scripts and done-for-you content. Plus, agents can tap into mentorship and weekly strategy calls to get real-time feedback. You don’t have to guess your way through success; we’ve already walked the path, and we’re here to guide you.
ACN: Your company prioritizes work-life balance; how does this look in practice?
HB: Work-life balance at Legacy isn’t a buzzword; it’s a belief system. We designed this career to give agents the ability to show up for what matters most: their families. Whether that means taking your kids to school every morning or building a business from your living room, we respect and support your version of balance. Our team members share their schedules with full transparency so others can learn what works. We celebrate healthy boundaries and intentional time off because we know that fulfilled people build stronger businesses.
Is there anything unique about how your company operates you would like to share?
HB: Legacy is built on faith. Before we make decisions, we pray. Before we launch something new, we seek wisdom. Our faith doesn’t just influence what we do; it shapes how we lead, how we support each other, and how we serve our clients. We believe that when God is at the center, everything aligns. This posture of prayer and purpose is what makes our culture feel like family and our work feel like a calling.
