Applied Net 2025 (Oct. 6-9) is around the corner. With the wide range of sessions and inspiring speakers who will be featured at the conference, attendees can come ready to expand their knowledge and gain new experiences. In this session preview, Natalie Thompson, presenter for “Auditing Employees Using Epic Reports & Epic Dashboards,” shares what attendees can expect during the talk.
ACN: What is your background on your session’s subject? What excites you most about being in this field?
Natalie Thompson (NT): I entered the insurance industry in 2012 as part of the Commercial Lines Service Team. Those early years gave me a front-row seat to the daily challenges of balancing client service, documentation and carrier workflows while striving for efficiency.
In 2018, I was part of the team that transitioned our agency to Applied Epic, and by 2019, I stepped fully into operations leadership. Since then, my focus has been on how technology, reporting and process improvement can make life easier - not only for the service team, but also for the leaders tasked with overseeing productivity and workflows.
ACN: What can attendees look forward to during your session?
NT: At Applied Net 2025, I will be leading a session titled “Auditing Employees Using Epic Reports & Dashboards.” Attendees will learn how to use Applied Epic Reports and Dashboards to uncover productivity trends, spot workflow gaps, and empower your team with actionable insights. You will walk away with practical tools to improve efficiency, accountability and client service.
We’ll go beyond “what buttons to click” and focus on how to interpret the data you pull, connect it to workflows, and turn it into something actionable. Whether it’s reviewing attachments, monitoring overdue activities or comparing book sizes to highlight workload imbalances, the goal is to provide tools that make a real difference in how teams are managed and how employee efficiency is supported.
ACN: Is there a particular topic in your session you think is especially interesting?
NT: One dashboard I find especially interesting — and often eye-opening for managers — is the Work Performed Dashboard. This tool provides a real-time measure of productivity by capturing activities created, tasks closed, notes entered and more.
It’s not about micromanaging. Instead, it shifts conversations from gut feeling to data-driven coaching and support. That clarity helps managers see where their team is spending time, where workloads may be uneven, and how efforts connect back to client outcomes. With that insight, managers can identify and address gaps before they become client service issues.
ACN: Why do you think this topic is important right now?
NT: People and technology — what an exciting combination in the world of insurance! Applied Epic Reports and Dashboards are more than just numbers on a screen; they tell the story of how employees are working, where bottlenecks are forming and what clients may be experiencing behind the scenes. I love connecting those dots; helping managers see the big picture while equipping employees with tools to improve their day-to-day work.
ACN: What is a highlight or two you hope attendees will take away from your session?
NT: My hope is that attendees walk away from this session with two key takeaways. First, auditing employees doesn’t have to be complicated — it’s about consistently using a handful of targeted Applied Epic® Reports & Dashboards. Second, these tools aren’t just for accountability; they’re for empowerment.
Applied Epic provides powerful built-in tools. When used intentionally, they give managers and employees alike the clarity to see what’s working, where adjustments are needed, and how to continuously improve both efficiency and client service. It’s just a matter of knowing where to look — and how to apply what you find.
